00:00:47:10 - 00:00:52:04
We are back for the second half
of our interview with Natalie J Clayton.
00:00:52:04 - 00:00:57:17
Personal Development Coach,
and we are here at City Club Los Angeles.
00:00:57:18 - 00:00:59:00
Welcome back Natalie.
00:00:59:00 - 00:01:01:08
Thank you so much for having me again.
00:01:01:08 - 00:01:02:19
I'm so honored to be here.
00:01:02:19 - 00:01:04:09
We're so glad to have you here.
00:01:04:09 - 00:01:05:04
Thank you.
00:01:05:04 - 00:01:09:08
Natalie gave us some background
about her time in law enforcement
00:01:09:08 - 00:01:12:14
and the health scare
that she went through.
00:01:12:25 - 00:01:16:02
What she went through with her son,
and her
00:01:16:02 - 00:01:19:16
transition toward helping others
achieve their goals.
00:01:19:17 - 00:01:22:17
We are very eager to learn more.
00:01:22:24 - 00:01:28:10
So, Natalie, you are the current chair
of the Women of City Club Committee.
00:01:28:11 - 00:01:31:28
Tell us about the work that you do
because you have
00:01:31:28 - 00:01:35:18
a particular mission
that I resonate very much with.
00:01:36:29 - 00:01:37:23
the work that I do.
00:01:37:23 - 00:01:40:25
Well, I well, first of all,
00:01:40:25 - 00:01:44:10
everyone who is a member of the City Club,
LA, if you're a woman,
00:01:44:21 - 00:01:48:01
you are an automatic member
of the City Club of LA.
00:01:48:16 - 00:01:51:10
And it is open to men as well.
00:01:51:10 - 00:01:55:18
I've had a lot of men
ask me if they can attend and,
00:01:56:13 - 00:01:59:16
because they're a little bit intimidated
because it says women, the City Club.
00:01:59:16 - 00:02:00:22
But it's for men and women.
00:02:00:22 - 00:02:03:28
Yes, but, it's a, it's, a committee
00:02:03:28 - 00:02:06:28
to support women and their mission.
00:02:07:15 - 00:02:10:01
networking and support and friendships,
00:02:10:01 - 00:02:13:01
whether it's, you know, for your business,
00:02:13:11 - 00:02:16:18
your career
or maybe even your personal life.
00:02:17:06 - 00:02:20:19
And, you know,
the City Club is a business club first,
00:02:20:19 - 00:02:24:01
but it's also a place
where people can build relationships.
00:02:24:14 - 00:02:30:06
And so my, my,
my chair position is a two year position.
00:02:31:24 - 00:02:33:19
and I was appointed,
00:02:33:19 - 00:02:36:24
in January 1st, 20 this year, 2024.
00:02:37:03 - 00:02:40:25
And so my, mission and my goal
00:02:40:25 - 00:02:46:27
this year is, wellness, holistic,
you know, health, wellness and healing
00:02:47:09 - 00:02:52:25
because, I believe that you can have
all the money in the world.
00:02:52:25 - 00:02:54:12
You can have all the success in the world.
00:02:54:12 - 00:02:58:16
But if your temple is not healed
whole and,
00:02:58:26 - 00:03:02:29
recovered from whatever it needs to be
recovered is pointless. Yes.
00:03:03:00 - 00:03:06:00
You know, because health is wealth. And,
00:03:06:14 - 00:03:09:14
and just bringing in programs
00:03:09:19 - 00:03:14:10
to help us women and men
to live a vital life. Yes.
00:03:14:25 - 00:03:17:13
Yes. So,
00:03:17:13 - 00:03:18:28
and we have two signature events.
00:03:18:28 - 00:03:21:28
We had our first signature event in March,
00:03:21:29 - 00:03:24:29
and it was for, Women's History Month.
00:03:25:05 - 00:03:28:19
It's called
the Outstanding Women of City Club.
00:03:29:06 - 00:03:33:03
And we honor women who are members
and their contributions
00:03:33:03 - 00:03:36:06
to not only to the City Club, but
in your careers and within the community.
00:03:36:16 - 00:03:38:06
So that was an amazing event.
00:03:38:06 - 00:03:40:09
That we had, I was there. It was amazing.
00:03:40:09 - 00:03:41:07
I loved it. It was amazing.
00:03:41:07 - 00:03:42:21
It was wonderful.
00:03:42:21 - 00:03:46:25
And, so our next event that we have is,
00:03:47:19 - 00:03:52:00
a part, part one of a part
two Women Health and Wellness.
00:03:52:16 - 00:03:55:24
And we're going to have,
Dr. Gail Jackson.
00:03:55:25 - 00:03:59:01
She is a renowned, ObGyn,
00:03:59:15 - 00:04:02:15
certified board ObGyn medical doctor,
00:04:03:01 - 00:04:06:05
and she's been in practice for over
25 years.
00:04:06:19 - 00:04:07:27
She is known as,
00:04:09:25 - 00:04:10:25
the doctor who is
00:04:10:25 - 00:04:13:25
who have birthed
a lot of celebrity babies.
00:04:13:29 - 00:04:16:29
And, that her her,
00:04:17:04 - 00:04:19:01
mission is to help women
00:04:19:01 - 00:04:22:01
who are going through menopause,
00:04:22:11 - 00:04:24:06
perimenopause, whatever.
00:04:24:06 - 00:04:28:14
If you have issues with your hormones
or you have different issues
00:04:28:26 - 00:04:32:15
in your life
to help you balance your hormones.
00:04:33:09 - 00:04:38:24
men and women and to live, recover
and to live a, you know, a vital life.
00:04:39:13 - 00:04:40:05
Absolutely.
00:04:40:05 - 00:04:44:27
And this is an area, I think,
that is just for women in midlife.
00:04:45:04 - 00:04:49:23
They they feel consistently,
you know, under utilized under.
00:04:50:03 - 00:04:52:28
Right. Researched.
00:04:52:28 - 00:04:56:16
They feel kind of cast aside
by the medical establishment.
00:04:56:17 - 00:04:59:21
So it's really wonderful
that you have this event coming.
00:05:00:00 - 00:05:02:08
Yeah. So that's going to be on Wednesday.
00:05:02:08 - 00:05:03:10
May 22nd (2024).
00:05:03:10 - 00:05:06:10
And her team is
00:05:07:00 - 00:05:08:11
a sex coach.
00:05:08:11 - 00:05:10:09
Tiffany Yelverton.
00:05:10:09 - 00:05:12:23
And she talks about how,
00:05:14:17 - 00:05:15:11
you know,
00:05:15:11 - 00:05:18:00
sex and
having orgasms are important in life.
00:05:18:00 - 00:05:21:00
And it is, you know,
however form of shape, you know,
00:05:21:12 - 00:05:24:04
you, have them, but
00:05:24:04 - 00:05:28:00
so is it's going to be we're going to it's
a topic is called Let's Talk About Sex.
00:05:28:13 - 00:05:32:01
And it's a marriage between hormone
sex and, a vital life.
00:05:32:09 - 00:05:34:15
Yes. So I think it's going to be really,
really good.
00:05:34:15 - 00:05:35:17
Me too.
00:05:35:17 - 00:05:38:01
and Doctor Gail happens to be my doctor.
00:05:38:01 - 00:05:41:01
because I will be 60 this year, and,
00:05:42:01 - 00:05:43:25
I couldn't tell from looking at her.
00:05:43:25 - 00:05:47:05
I know right at the ripe wrap my brain
around, like, I'm really turning 60.
00:05:47:05 - 00:05:49:08
Even my son was like, mommy,
I can't believe you're turning 60.
00:05:49:08 - 00:05:50:11
I'm like, watch it, you know?
00:05:50:11 - 00:05:52:29
But but no, I mean, I, I welcome it,
00:05:53:28 - 00:05:56:06
especially with all the things
I've gone through in my life.
00:05:56:06 - 00:06:01:18
And, I'm just like, wow, this is to me,
the 60 is a new 30s, and it's
00:06:01:18 - 00:06:04:25
however you look at your (just look at her)
and your life and how you,
00:06:06:12 - 00:06:09:04
take care of yourself
is really, really important.
00:06:09:04 - 00:06:10:03
Absolutely.
00:06:10:03 - 00:06:13:20
And then the second part
will be our very own Yan Weng.
00:06:14:05 - 00:06:15:09
She was on our
00:06:15:09 - 00:06:17:28
podcast, Reiki Master, and she's
00:06:17:28 - 00:06:21:28
going to teach yoga and, we'll probably
have one more guest come in as well.
00:06:21:28 - 00:06:23:03
We're not sure, but we.
00:06:23:03 - 00:06:25:23
That will be July 19th (2024).
00:06:25:23 - 00:06:29:13
We have a, a a, book circle,
00:06:30:22 - 00:06:31:22
for authors.
00:06:31:22 - 00:06:33:26
We've kicked it off last year.
00:06:33:26 - 00:06:36:28
and, it was, you know, the the,
00:06:38:07 - 00:06:39:21
you know,
00:06:39:21 - 00:06:42:10
why is important to write a book,
your story
00:06:42:10 - 00:06:46:18
and you know how to if you should use
a publisher, self-publishing.
00:06:47:04 - 00:06:48:01
And then a third,
00:06:49:04 - 00:06:50:04
session will
00:06:50:04 - 00:06:53:04
be how to, monetize and market your book.
00:06:53:05 - 00:06:56:22
Well, that's very convenient because I'm
coming out with a book in September (2024), so.
00:06:57:00 - 00:06:58:15
That was very important.
00:06:58:15 - 00:07:00:23
And the strategies behind it.
00:07:00:23 - 00:07:02:22
Let's see, what else are we going to have?
00:07:02:22 - 00:07:05:22
We're going to collaborate with
00:07:05:27 - 00:07:08:17
community engagement,
00:07:08:17 - 00:07:12:01
for, Adoption Day,
National Adoption Day in November (2024).
00:07:12:20 - 00:07:15:25
We are also going to have Unstoppable
Women,
00:07:15:26 - 00:07:18:26
which was brought,
00:07:19:01 - 00:07:23:20
a new event where we honor women
who are not members of the City Club,
00:07:23:20 - 00:07:26:22
but they're outstanding
women in this, LA County.
00:07:27:14 - 00:07:30:14
And we try to bring in women
who are nontraditional.
00:07:31:12 - 00:07:33:10
And we just want to know,
00:07:33:10 - 00:07:35:26
you know, what makes them unstoppable
00:07:35:26 - 00:07:38:26
and their contributions to,
00:07:39:09 - 00:07:41:22
you know, the city of LA, LA county.
00:07:41:22 - 00:07:43:25
And this is the type of,
00:07:45:05 - 00:07:46:04
roadblocks that they may
00:07:46:04 - 00:07:49:04
have faced, in their careers,
00:07:49:27 - 00:07:52:05
whether it's their career
or their entrepreneurs
00:07:52:05 - 00:07:55:06
and how you can you can be unstoppable.
00:07:55:18 - 00:07:57:07
I love it, I love it.
00:07:57:07 - 00:08:01:19
And speaking of books,
you yourself wrote a bestseller.
00:08:01:19 - 00:08:07:02
It's called Awaken the Leader
Within 15 Steps to Shine Your Light.
00:08:07:15 - 00:08:09:12
Tell us about this book.
00:08:09:12 - 00:08:11:22
What was your inspiration?
00:08:11:22 - 00:08:12:23
and just let us know
00:08:12:23 - 00:08:16:04
what are some of the steps
that we can take to shine our own light?
00:08:16:23 - 00:08:17:25
My inspiration?
00:08:17:25 - 00:08:21:01
Well, I'm going to go back to
when I was giving my, testimony,
00:08:21:22 - 00:08:23:19
at my friend's church.
00:08:23:19 - 00:08:27:03
And because I never thought
I would write a book, I'm like.
00:08:27:03 - 00:08:30:14
And that never dawned on me
to write a book. And.
00:08:33:22 - 00:08:35:09
When I was giving my testimony,
00:08:36:14 - 00:08:39:02
I don't know if you're familiar with
church is one of the elders of churches.
00:08:39:02 - 00:08:39:21
Is like, you know,
00:08:39:21 - 00:08:42:21
when you were giving your testimony,
this is what was dropped in my
00:08:43:01 - 00:08:44:06
my soul, my spirit.
00:08:44:06 - 00:08:47:10
The the Lord told me and was talking to me
and telling me you need to write a book.
00:08:47:22 - 00:08:48:29
And I'm looking at him like what?
00:08:48:29 - 00:08:51:02
He goes,
you need to write a book to help people.
00:08:51:02 - 00:08:54:15
And I was just looking at him
and I thought, okay.
00:08:54:15 - 00:08:57:26
And he says, but you need to do a video
first and then write and
00:08:59:08 - 00:09:01:24
write
the book and God will provide provision.
00:09:01:24 - 00:09:04:04
And I'm just looking at him.
And I was like, what?
00:09:04:04 - 00:09:06:02
You know what? I'm
trying to figure out what book.
00:09:06:02 - 00:09:11:22
So, you know, because my my son's story
is so phenomenal, how he overcame so much.
00:09:11:22 - 00:09:12:22
So I was going to write a
00:09:12:22 - 00:09:15:27
I thought about writing a book about him,
but I don't want to take away his story.
00:09:16:13 - 00:09:17:06
And so,
00:09:18:10 - 00:09:20:05
I just was pondering, what does this mean?
00:09:20:05 - 00:09:23:05
What video, you know, and, anyway,
00:09:23:17 - 00:09:26:18
ten years later, I finally wrote the book,
00:09:27:13 - 00:09:30:20
and I was trying to figure out
how to write the book.
00:09:30:28 - 00:09:35:02
It's on leadership
and how to awaken the leader within,
00:09:35:04 - 00:09:38:04
because and to be able to overcome
00:09:38:23 - 00:09:39:14
challenges.
00:09:39:14 - 00:09:42:14
But I wanted to write a book
that was short and to the point.
00:09:43:17 - 00:09:46:08
I'm going to write a second book,
which will be my legacy book,
00:09:46:08 - 00:09:51:16
and I will go in more and, in detail
about my life, about my gifts,
00:09:52:15 - 00:09:55:15
about being in law enforcement,
about working undercover, about,
00:09:56:20 - 00:09:58:15
having to sue, you
00:09:58:15 - 00:10:01:16
know, for discrimination, sexism,
you know,
00:10:01:16 - 00:10:04:28
all the things that you can possibly
think of in the male dominated field
00:10:05:14 - 00:10:08:08
and just what transitioned me
to who I am today.
00:10:08:08 - 00:10:12:08
And so
but this book is it's just, a quick read.
00:10:12:08 - 00:10:14:19
It's 15 steps. And,
00:10:15:29 - 00:10:18:02
it came to my
00:10:18:02 - 00:10:21:01
when during Covid,
I was trying to figure out,
00:10:21:01 - 00:10:23:17
you know,
what do I need to convey to people
00:10:23:17 - 00:10:27:04
so that something that's quick,
something that's a reference to that
00:10:27:04 - 00:10:31:13
they're in a funk, or they're in a foxhole
or they're in a sunken place?
00:10:31:14 - 00:10:34:14
How can I just give them some tools
00:10:34:23 - 00:10:37:26
that they can,
you know, go through really quick?
00:10:37:26 - 00:10:38:23
Oh, man.
00:10:38:23 - 00:10:40:15
You know, like be the light.
00:10:40:15 - 00:10:43:15
That's step 15 or modeling love.
00:10:43:25 - 00:10:48:07
And, it just after watching Covid
and all of the craziness
00:10:48:28 - 00:10:51:10
that was happening,
00:10:51:10 - 00:10:54:19
that's already been happening, but I think
everyone had a chance to really be still
00:10:55:16 - 00:10:59:05
and pay attention to what's been going on
for many, many, many years.
00:11:00:02 - 00:11:03:19
And there is no excuse for you
not to look at and see what was happening
00:11:04:04 - 00:11:06:09
in real life. And so I wrote it,
00:11:08:13 - 00:11:09:02
for people
00:11:09:02 - 00:11:14:19
who are working in corporate America,
government in every area of government,
00:11:14:19 - 00:11:18:00
if you're an entrepreneur, just steps
00:11:18:02 - 00:11:21:02
to help people to to be better.
00:11:21:02 - 00:11:23:08
And so.
00:11:24:18 - 00:11:25:20
Let me ask you this.
00:11:25:20 - 00:11:28:17
You have some very interesting steps.
00:11:28:17 - 00:11:31:24
And I'd like I'd like to get a little bit
more information on that.
00:11:33:13 - 00:11:35:14
what about step two?
00:11:35:14 - 00:11:38:14
Step two is catalyst for change.
00:11:38:25 - 00:11:40:04
Tell me a little bit about that.
00:11:40:04 - 00:11:42:12
What does that mean?
00:11:42:12 - 00:11:45:26
I again, when Covid happened,
00:11:47:11 - 00:11:50:03
I want to reference this
because I don’t remember everything
00:11:50:03 - 00:11:53:03
when Covid happened, I was just
I was like, there needs to be a change.
00:11:53:08 - 00:11:56:08
And I believe that
00:11:56:25 - 00:12:00:01
this, this then Covid, wasn't this
something that just happened?
00:12:00:01 - 00:12:03:01
I believe it was a way
for people to just be still.
00:12:03:04 - 00:12:07:03
I think it was a
it was a way—we can't do things
00:12:07:03 - 00:12:11:07
the way we used to do things,
at least in my perception.
00:12:11:20 - 00:12:15:15
And so a catalyst for change
means that what whoever you are,
00:12:16:01 - 00:12:20:03
you know, whether you are
the CEO, you from the CEO down to,
00:12:22:04 - 00:12:23:27
the security guard,
00:12:23:27 - 00:12:26:27
custodian, you can be a catalyst
for change for the good.
00:12:27:12 - 00:12:30:27
And, it just talks about
and certainly like the the first sentence
00:12:30:27 - 00:12:33:27
I said change is a certainty in life
00:12:33:29 - 00:12:38:23
and but it helps people to transform
if you want to be transformed.
00:12:39:06 - 00:12:42:01
You know, that's the,
00:12:42:01 - 00:12:45:02
I think that's the most powerful decision
that a person can make
00:12:45:19 - 00:12:48:19
is that you can change your situation
in circumstances,
00:12:48:19 - 00:12:51:19
and you can be a catalyst
for change in your life,
00:12:52:21 - 00:12:54:17
in someone else's life.
00:12:54:17 - 00:12:59:08
But that person or the individual person
has to have the willingness to change.
00:12:59:16 - 00:13:01:10
I love that, yeah, I love that.
00:13:01:10 - 00:13:05:14
What about I like the
the title of this Mind Your Courage.
00:13:05:26 - 00:13:06:20
Oh yeah.
00:13:06:20 - 00:13:09:14
So Mind Your Courage meaning have the courage
00:13:10:26 - 00:13:11:24
is it's a
00:13:11:24 - 00:13:15:01
having the courage to stand up and,
00:13:16:07 - 00:13:19:07
not only for yourself
but for other people.
00:13:19:10 - 00:13:24:10
You know, sometimes the the loudest voice
is not always the strongest person.
00:13:24:15 - 00:13:26:28
Sometimes could be the weakest link.
00:13:26:28 - 00:13:28:09
And in law enforcement.
00:13:28:09 - 00:13:32:19
And we would always, use
that as a, cliche, whoever's the weakest,
00:13:33:09 - 00:13:35:05
the weakest link
00:13:35:05 - 00:13:36:27
destroy the whole team.
00:13:36:27 - 00:13:39:27
And so, but
00:13:40:06 - 00:13:43:10
just have the courage
to stand up for yourself.
00:13:44:13 - 00:13:47:17
and maybe someone else
if they don't have a voice for themselves.
00:13:47:28 - 00:13:50:24
I love that, and, yeah. What step was that one? I forget.
00:13:50:24 - 00:13:52:14
I forget that.
00:13:52:14 - 00:13:54:18
That's a wonderful step.
00:13:54:18 - 00:13:57:13
What about, And I think that this
00:13:57:13 - 00:14:00:19
probably applies to so many of us.
00:14:01:02 - 00:14:03:19
Perception versus truth.
00:14:03:19 - 00:14:04:25
Oh, yeah.
00:14:04:25 - 00:14:07:25
Oh, that's step six.
00:14:09:12 - 00:14:11:17
Well, I think that,
00:14:15:13 - 00:14:16:08
Since.
00:14:16:08 - 00:14:17:02
Well, I have an example.
00:14:17:02 - 00:14:20:02
I said, for example,
when you are a supportive member of a team
00:14:20:07 - 00:14:24:01
and mind you,
I wrote this with the mindset for teams,
00:14:24:04 - 00:14:27:10
for individual people,
you know, corporate America, government
00:14:27:10 - 00:14:29:08
entities.
00:14:31:15 - 00:14:34:02
When you're supportive member
in a team, group relationship
00:14:34:02 - 00:14:37:24
or in a marriage, your ideas and concepts
are easily accepted.
00:14:39:08 - 00:14:42:26
It's a wonderful environment
because to be your authentic self
00:14:43:11 - 00:14:45:25
and to have a sense of
belonging is powerful.
00:14:45:25 - 00:14:50:22
So, you know, people have this perception
of themselves, whatever it may be.
00:14:51:04 - 00:14:54:04
Maybe it's you don't feel good
about yourself or whatever.
00:14:55:07 - 00:14:58:07
But then what's the truth? And,
00:14:58:27 - 00:15:01:27
your truth can and be your authentic self,
00:15:03:10 - 00:15:06:01
with your ideas and your skills,
00:15:06:01 - 00:15:08:13
to contribute to
00:15:08:13 - 00:15:11:13
relationships,
00:15:13:03 - 00:15:14:22
factors that show up in your life,
00:15:16:09 - 00:15:18:01
and to help you to be successful.
00:15:18:01 - 00:15:18:16
Right.
00:15:18:16 - 00:15:22:27
And, so I use like three areas,
that are great.
00:15:23:23 - 00:15:28:13
Attributes are psychological safety,
meaning of work and impact of work.
00:15:28:13 - 00:15:31:21
So I wrote that with the, idea
00:15:31:21 - 00:15:35:13
of working in an organization. And,
00:15:36:24 - 00:15:40:11
just people having perceptions of people,
you know, making judgments against people
00:15:40:11 - 00:15:43:07
because it is looking at them
for what they see. Right?
00:15:43:07 - 00:15:46:17
But they're not seeking the truth,
that of an individual person.
00:15:46:24 - 00:15:49:20
Right. I, I deal with that all the time
00:15:49:20 - 00:15:52:23
in psychology because based on
00:15:52:23 - 00:15:57:19
what has happened in their childhood,
they develop, persona,
00:15:57:19 - 00:16:00:21
they develop a certain idea of themselves,
00:16:01:15 - 00:16:05:03
and oftentimes, especially if they're
seeking therapy, something negative.
00:16:05:05 - 00:16:06:00
Right? Yeah.
00:16:06:00 - 00:16:11:02
And like, their main core belief
or their thought
00:16:11:02 - 00:16:16:03
is, I'm not worthy or I'm worthless
or I'm not good enough.
00:16:16:06 - 00:16:18:16
I see that all of the time. Right.
00:16:18:16 - 00:16:22:24
And you say that enough times
based on what happened in your childhood
00:16:22:24 - 00:16:25:17
and you think that that has
become your identity, right.
00:16:25:17 - 00:16:29:07
But when you really examine
the truth of that and you examine,
00:16:29:24 - 00:16:31:26
you know, who do you have in your life?
00:16:31:26 - 00:16:36:00
Who who is supporting you, who loves you?
When they start
00:16:36:00 - 00:16:39:18
to see and shift their perspective
to what's actually the truth,
00:16:40:09 - 00:16:44:20
they tend to change that thought
and when you change that thought.
00:16:44:20 - 00:16:49:02
I think it's the most powerful thing
of all because you realize your not
00:16:49:17 - 00:16:50:08
your thoughts.
00:16:50:08 - 00:16:54:16
You can actually tap into the core
of who you are,
00:16:54:16 - 00:16:57:26
all of your wonderful qualities
and and be that.
00:16:57:29 - 00:17:00:15
Absolutely.
Yeah. My dad was a psychologist. So,
00:17:01:23 - 00:17:04:09
So I’m speaking your dad’s language. So you’re speaking my dad’s language.
00:17:04:09 - 00:17:06:19
Yeah. No, but that very true. Yeah.
00:17:06:19 - 00:17:10:06
And it goes back to mindfulness
of exactly what you're speaking to.
00:17:10:06 - 00:17:13:06
So so let me, me ask you this.
00:17:13:09 - 00:17:18:17
If you were to look back,
what piece of knowledge or advice
00:17:18:17 - 00:17:22:21
do you wish you had
when you were just starting out?
00:17:23:21 - 00:17:25:20
In which area? (laughter)
00:17:25:20 - 00:17:27:26
As a entrepreneur, as a police officer?
00:17:27:26 - 00:17:29:27
Both.
00:17:34:15 - 00:17:34:29
Let's see.
00:17:34:29 - 00:17:37:03
I also have a police officer.
00:17:37:03 - 00:17:40:03
I had no idea what I was getting into.
00:17:40:25 - 00:17:47:22
and, I was on a on a mission
00:17:47:22 - 00:17:50:26
when I, when I became a police officer,
my goal was to retire as a captain.
00:17:51:28 - 00:17:53:19
And but.
00:17:53:19 - 00:17:54:03
And I'm.
00:17:54:03 - 00:17:54:10
And I
00:17:54:10 - 00:17:57:10
hope people don't take this the wrong way,
but I, I couldn't drink the Kool-Aid.
00:17:57:15 - 00:18:00:01
You know, there's a certain type
of, system
00:18:00:01 - 00:18:02:05
that's in place in that—It's a culture.
00:18:02:05 - 00:18:03:11
It's a culture.
00:18:03:11 - 00:18:06:06
And so I just couldn't do it.
00:18:06:06 - 00:18:11:17
But in hindsight, now I'm as,
when I remove myself from that, career.
00:18:11:27 - 00:18:14:23
Well, you maybe you could have, you know,
00:18:14:23 - 00:18:17:13
maybe you could have done
some things differently.
00:18:17:13 - 00:18:20:08
But I was always a person
that I believe in
00:18:20:08 - 00:18:23:17
being authentic and integrity was really,
really important to me.
00:18:24:05 - 00:18:28:29
And so I saw some things that I just
that this didn't mirror with me very well.
00:18:29:17 - 00:18:35:05
And, so, maybe be a little bit different,
not as direct,
00:18:35:13 - 00:18:37:28
you know, and say things to people
because I was like,
00:18:37:28 - 00:18:40:28
okay, I'm gonna call a spade a spade. And.
00:18:40:29 - 00:18:42:28
Yeah, and now I'm like, me, I would have did it
00:18:42:28 - 00:18:46:25
differently. Did it cause strife and drama?
00:18:48:12 - 00:18:50:17
No, I think people had a respect for that.
00:18:50:17 - 00:18:53:17
But but it it
00:18:53:21 - 00:18:54:04
let's see.
00:18:54:04 - 00:18:56:04
I'm trying to be politically correct here.
00:18:56:04 - 00:18:58:15
There is a culture
00:18:58:15 - 00:19:00:17
in that field of work,
00:19:00:17 - 00:19:04:05
and I am a, I'm
00:19:04:05 - 00:19:07:09
an outspoken person
and I'll just leave it at that.
00:19:07:10 - 00:19:08:25
So I didn't put my blinders up.
00:19:08:25 - 00:19:11:08
I looked up,
I saw something that I didn't like.
00:19:11:08 - 00:19:13:18
I would speak to it
and some people didn't like that.
00:19:13:18 - 00:19:14:29
So anyway.
00:19:14:29 - 00:19:17:29
So in retrospect, you might have
00:19:19:02 - 00:19:20:16
not spoken well.
00:19:20:16 - 00:19:24:17
No, I would have spoken,
but probably in a different way.
00:19:25:03 - 00:19:27:14
Yeah, in a different way.
00:19:27:14 - 00:19:29:10
But I'm I'm content with
what happened to me.
00:19:29:10 - 00:19:32:10
I believe that what happened to me in
my life
00:19:32:19 - 00:19:36:08
was a pivoting point
for me to move out of that, career.
00:19:38:24 - 00:19:40:17
And let's see, as
00:19:40:17 - 00:19:43:17
an entrepreneur with my company,
00:19:44:19 - 00:19:48:28
I think I probably would have it's
interesting because transitioning from,
00:19:50:07 - 00:19:52:21
government entity,
00:19:52:21 - 00:19:55:06
for 30 years
and then being an entrepreneur,
00:19:55:06 - 00:19:57:26
you know, I had a uniform on,
I'm like people like,
00:19:57:26 - 00:20:00:06
and I sell real estate,
and I, you know, I was a professor,
00:20:00:06 - 00:20:03:06
and all that wonderful stuff.
I did, the things I thought I wanted to do
00:20:03:10 - 00:20:06:10
when I retired, and,
00:20:06:24 - 00:20:09:20
I didn't know about marketing, and people
were like, what's your marketing skills?
00:20:09:20 - 00:20:11:25
I'm like marketing? I just
show up. People know who I am.
00:20:11:25 - 00:20:14:01
You know, that was my mindset
00:20:14:01 - 00:20:18:07
because I was a police officer
and so I didn't have to market myself.
00:20:18:07 - 00:20:21:07
You know, I would walk into a room
and people knew who I was.
00:20:21:22 - 00:20:23:27
So that was,
00:20:24:28 - 00:20:27:28
something
I would change and work differently.
00:20:28:06 - 00:20:30:24
And then having a business, I mean,
because I, you know, it's like, well,
00:20:30:24 - 00:20:34:12
you you're you're you're
you're working for a government entity.
00:20:34:12 - 00:20:34:28
You know, things.
00:20:34:28 - 00:20:38:08
It does everyone everything is set up,
you know, and then when you're
00:20:38:08 - 00:20:41:08
working for yourself, you're like,
oh, shoot, I have to do all this stuff.
00:20:41:10 - 00:20:45:14
And so that was a
that was a huge awakening for me.
00:20:45:25 - 00:20:48:05
And so,
00:20:48:05 - 00:20:49:08
I would do that differently.
00:20:49:08 - 00:20:51:13
I would plan
I would have planned a little bit better.
00:20:51:13 - 00:20:53:25
You just kind of barreled into it. Yeah.
00:20:53:25 - 00:20:56:06
My instinct told you to do it.
00:20:56:06 - 00:20:59:06
And then you go like, oh, oh,
I should have a plan.
00:20:59:06 - 00:21:01:22
Yeah.
00:21:01:22 - 00:21:03:04
That, that that part.
00:21:03:04 - 00:21:07:16
But things happen as they should
I, I really feel that that's true.
00:21:07:16 - 00:21:11:04
So yeah, you're here
and you're doing your thing and,
00:21:11:22 - 00:21:14:13
you know,
it sounds like people are loving it.
00:21:14:13 - 00:21:18:11
However, if someone did try your approach
and it didn't work for them,
00:21:19:03 - 00:21:20:20
what would you suggest for them?
00:21:22:23 - 00:21:23:12
well, you know,
00:21:23:12 - 00:21:26:12
that's it depends on the situation.
00:21:26:12 - 00:21:29:27
I think it depends on if,
00:21:32:03 - 00:21:34:02
if they invested in themselves.
00:21:34:02 - 00:21:35:05
I mean, when you work with me,
00:21:35:05 - 00:21:36:15
have you're going to have homework
assignments,
00:21:36:15 - 00:21:38:27
there’s things
you're going to have to do individually.
00:21:38:27 - 00:21:42:03
I mean, my role as a coach is to,
00:21:43:13 - 00:21:44:17
help you.
00:21:44:17 - 00:21:47:17
I'm a visionary, so I help
you see things that you can't see,
00:21:47:28 - 00:21:49:27
but I can't do it for you.
00:21:49:27 - 00:21:52:27
So, a lot of times,
00:21:53:12 - 00:21:56:18
before I became a certified coach,
I was blowing up everyone's balloon,
00:21:57:19 - 00:22:00:13
and then the air would go out,
and then I'm,
00:22:00:13 - 00:22:03:13
I'm exhausted because I'm
trying to do this for that person.
00:22:03:29 - 00:22:07:09
And so my advice for people is like,
00:22:07:09 - 00:22:10:23
well, you need what is it
that what did you define what you wanted?
00:22:11:12 - 00:22:13:15
And did you take the steps?
00:22:13:15 - 00:22:17:06
You know, my suggestion, my role
as a coach is just to help you see things.
00:22:17:23 - 00:22:20:23
And I'm your accountable partner.
00:22:20:25 - 00:22:22:18
But you have to put in the work.
00:22:22:18 - 00:22:25:20
And so I would ask them
00:22:27:00 - 00:22:28:17
to evaluate themselves.
00:22:28:17 - 00:22:33:10
And if they invested in themselves
and put in the work,
00:22:34:02 - 00:22:37:19
and then people have to figure out
what they need to do from that point.
00:22:37:19 - 00:22:41:10
It's not my job to tell them
what they should do, but I will ask them
00:22:41:29 - 00:22:46:19
to do an assessment of the
of their decisions and their behaviors.
00:22:46:19 - 00:22:49:19
Did they do X,
Y, and Z? Did they pour into themselves?
00:22:50:00 - 00:22:52:29
And they will come up with that. so.
00:22:52:29 - 00:22:53:19
Yeah.
00:22:53:19 - 00:22:57:09
And if they don't they just most likely
have to get out of their own way.
00:22:57:11 - 00:23:00:15
Right. Absolutely. And find a way. Yeah.
00:23:00:15 - 00:23:03:15
And not everybody is for everyone I think.
00:23:04:07 - 00:23:06:10
but you have to find that
you have to find your way.
00:23:06:10 - 00:23:06:19
Yeah.
00:23:06:19 - 00:23:10:16
But it sounds like what you do
is help them see the bigger picture.
00:23:10:18 - 00:23:13:06
Right.
Help them get out of their way. Right.
00:23:13:06 - 00:23:16:20
And encourage them to find their path.
00:23:16:20 - 00:23:20:10
I think, you know, as a therapist,
that's that's what we do too.
00:23:20:10 - 00:23:23:02
Yeah. You know, very, very similar.
00:23:23:02 - 00:23:24:20
It is very similar.
00:23:24:20 - 00:23:26:03
Yes, definitely.
00:23:26:03 - 00:23:29:08
Yeah. Well, we, would love to open up,
00:23:30:10 - 00:23:30:23
to the
00:23:30:23 - 00:23:33:23
audience to ask any question of Natalie.
00:23:34:08 - 00:23:37:16
Does anybody have anything
that they would like to ask Natalie?
00:23:37:27 - 00:23:39:19
Don't be shy.
00:23:39:19 - 00:23:41:08
Come on up,
00:23:41:08 - 00:23:43:02
think of something.
00:23:43:02 - 00:23:45:03
And there's a microphone right there.
00:23:45:03 - 00:23:46:07
So it does look good.
00:23:46:07 - 00:23:48:19
Yeah.
00:23:48:19 - 00:23:49:14
Hello.
00:23:49:14 - 00:23:51:21
I'd like to know where we get the book?
00:23:51:21 - 00:23:54:10
Oh, okay.
00:23:54:10 - 00:23:56:22
You can you can purchase it,
00:23:56:22 - 00:24:00:03
on, Amazon, Amazon, Barnes and Noble.
00:24:01:07 - 00:24:04:07
And I think it's,
00:24:04:28 - 00:24:08:04
one more book, so I can't think of it
right now, but Amazon, Barnes and Noble.
00:24:08:08 - 00:24:10:27
Yes. Wonderful.
00:24:10:27 - 00:24:13:23
Anyone else?
00:24:13:23 - 00:24:16:23
No questions.
00:24:17:03 - 00:24:18:29
Oh. Oh, yeah.
00:24:21:00 - 00:24:21:17
Hello.

Thank you. You’re welcome.
00:25:02:01 - 00:25:03:10
Now we know how to find you.
00:25:03:10 - 00:25:04:22
Wonderful.
00:25:04:22 - 00:25:06:15
It looks like we have another question.
00:25:06:15 - 00:25:09:15
Come on down. Okay.
00:25:09:24 - 00:25:12:10
I'm really curious.
00:25:12:10 - 00:25:13:23
you have so much certainty.
00:25:13:23 - 00:25:15:06
It sounds like with your faith.
00:25:15:06 - 00:25:18:02
And that sounds like such a source of
00:25:18:02 - 00:25:20:22
strength for you
when you were going through
00:25:20:22 - 00:25:22:15
so much in your life.
00:25:22:15 - 00:25:26:24
But at the same time and it's hard
00:25:26:24 - 00:25:30:28
to go through things
and not have some sense of uncertainty.
00:25:31:07 - 00:25:31:23
Yeah.
00:25:31:23 - 00:25:35:08
So I'm really I'm curious how how did
00:25:35:08 - 00:25:38:08
you make space
00:25:38:17 - 00:25:39:17
or maybe you didn't. I
00:25:39:17 - 00:25:41:17
don't know, I'm just really curious about
00:25:41:17 - 00:25:43:16
how you may have balanced that or how you
00:25:43:16 - 00:25:44:27
Kind of held that
00:25:44:27 - 00:25:47:27
tension of certainty in your faith,
and then also
00:25:48:11 - 00:25:51:09
not really
knowing how things were going to work out?
00:25:51:09 - 00:25:52:06
That's a good question.
00:25:54:04 - 00:25:54:24
You know like I was
00:25:54:24 - 00:25:57:24
saying before I, I
there were times that I cried,
00:25:58:18 - 00:26:02:02
but you know,
I never thought of why, why me.
00:26:03:09 - 00:26:06:09
I was, I thought of why not me.
00:26:06:11 - 00:26:11:14
You know, and because I disbelieved
I mean, I was scared to death.
00:26:11:14 - 00:26:13:12
I'm telling you,
when I first got the diagnosis,
00:26:13:12 - 00:26:14:28
I told you I cried for 30 minutes.
00:26:14:28 - 00:26:16:13
I thought, oh, my God.
00:26:16:13 - 00:26:18:14
And then my faith kicked in,
00:26:18:14 - 00:26:21:20
and, And, you know,
there were times when I did break down.
00:26:21:20 - 00:26:23:18
I mean, I would look at my hands
like my hands are black.
00:26:23:18 - 00:26:24:17
What is going on here?
00:26:24:17 - 00:26:26:28
You know, my you know, my feet are black.
00:26:26:28 - 00:26:31:05
And but I just kept thinking this,
this is I'm going through.
00:26:31:15 - 00:26:32:27
It's something I'm going through.
00:26:32:27 - 00:26:34:06
I'm not going to stay here.
00:26:35:20 - 00:26:36:02
It's.
00:26:36:02 - 00:26:38:00
It's almost like you go to the gym
and you're working out.
00:26:38:00 - 00:26:41:01
You're trying to reach a goal,
and there's no there's no difference.
00:26:41:01 - 00:26:44:15
It's like, okay, I want to you, you know,
I want to lose 20 pounds or whatever.
00:26:45:02 - 00:26:47:04
I wanted to be healed.
00:26:47:04 - 00:26:50:04
And I just kept relying on my faith
in God.
00:26:50:20 - 00:26:52:07
I would talk to God all the time.
00:26:52:07 - 00:26:53:00
Hey, hey!
00:26:53:00 - 00:26:56:00
It's me, your daughter, you know,
00:26:56:02 - 00:26:59:11
and then I had a wonderful,
supportive family, and,
00:27:01:04 - 00:27:04:14
I made a conscious effort to not.
00:27:04:29 - 00:27:07:25
I mean, there were
there were things that came up in my mind,
00:27:07:25 - 00:27:10:16
but I just didn't want
I couldn't stay there.
00:27:10:16 - 00:27:12:20
And, you know, I would.
00:27:12:20 - 00:27:15:11
I can't say that I was just like this
perfect, you know, person.
00:27:15:11 - 00:27:19:16
And every time, you know, every day,
it was it was a moment of not thinking,
00:27:20:23 - 00:27:21:23
doubting.
00:27:23:13 - 00:27:25:10
And being afraid.
00:27:25:10 - 00:27:26:09
I just think you.
00:27:26:09 - 00:27:29:09
I learned to,
00:27:29:29 - 00:27:30:06
Okay.
00:27:30:06 - 00:27:31:22
I'm fearful this might happen.
00:27:31:22 - 00:27:34:22
This could happen. But then I choose this.
00:27:34:24 - 00:27:37:03
So it goes back to a choice.
00:27:37:03 - 00:27:40:23
You know, you have a
you make a conscious choice of what
00:27:40:23 - 00:27:44:05
you want to show up in your life.
00:27:44:26 - 00:27:46:14
Yeah.
00:27:46:14 - 00:27:50:06
I sound like you had to kind of battle
some, some demons back.
00:27:50:06 - 00:27:54:20
You know, uncertainty is
is bound to take you off of your track.
00:27:54:20 - 00:27:56:21
And it sounds like you had a laser focus.
00:27:56:21 - 00:27:58:20
I'm going to heal myself.
00:27:58:20 - 00:28:00:17
My son is going to heal.
00:28:00:17 - 00:28:03:14
I'm going to transition
out of law enforcement.
00:28:03:14 - 00:28:06:23
I am going to go toward helping people
00:28:07:09 - 00:28:10:00
and especially helping people
who've survived cancer.
00:28:10:00 - 00:28:12:10
Right. Well, I can tell you I ran from it.
00:28:12:10 - 00:28:13:21
I didn't I was like, I'm not doing it.
00:28:13:21 - 00:28:16:21
I'm like,
you know what? Listen, I'm healed.
00:28:16:29 - 00:28:18:03
You know what? I'm going to
00:28:19:03 - 00:28:22:08
go sit over in the corner
and figure out what I want to do, you know?
00:28:22:08 - 00:28:24:28
So it was,
00:28:24:28 - 00:28:28:07
you know, like I said, I had a
I had to peel
00:28:28:07 - 00:28:29:17
onion layers.
00:28:29:17 - 00:28:32:05
And I never forget my, holistic
00:28:32:05 - 00:28:35:05
practitioner because this is my thing.
00:28:35:12 - 00:28:36:28
She was like, oh, you need to stay home.
00:28:36:28 - 00:28:39:03
And I was like,
okay, well, I'm, you know, I need to heal.
00:28:39:03 - 00:28:42:02
And so I, I completely
I said, I'm not going to go back to work.
00:28:42:02 - 00:28:45:28
I made a conscious decision
not to go back because I had a chance to,
00:28:46:08 - 00:28:49:08
realize that I was it was so toxic
00:28:49:08 - 00:28:52:08
and the environment that I was in,
00:28:53:02 - 00:28:55:12
there were so many carcinogens
that I was exposed to.
00:28:55:12 - 00:28:57:07
I investigated meth labs.
00:28:57:07 - 00:29:00:06
And before I, we signed on,
they told us, you're going to be exposed
00:29:00:06 - 00:29:03:03
to all these carcinogens
and you might get cancer.
00:29:03:03 - 00:29:05:16
You know, I never thought about that
because I was,
00:29:05:16 - 00:29:08:09
you know, I was I always worked out
my mother when I got cancer,
00:29:08:09 - 00:29:09:01
my mother was like,
00:29:09:01 - 00:29:12:01
I thought, out of all my kids,
as five of us, as I never thought
00:29:12:13 - 00:29:16:18
that you would get cancer, you know,
I was like, I was always an athlete.
00:29:16:18 - 00:29:19:11
I always was conscious
about what I ate, what I consume.
00:29:21:08 - 00:29:22:16
and, but
00:29:22:16 - 00:29:25:16
I think
sometimes things happen to pivot you
00:29:25:18 - 00:29:28:18
and to move you to a place
where you need to be.
